ACADEMICS

At St. Pius X Catholic School, we believe every child is uniquely created by God and called to grow in knowledge, virtue, and confidence. Our academic approach blends a strong foundation in core subjects with purposeful enrichment opportunities—helping students think critically, communicate clearly, and joyfully discover the world God created.

A Well-Rounded Curriculum

Core subjects instruction

Students engage each day in rigorous instruction in Religion, Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Weekly enrichment in Art, Music, and Library supports creativity, discipleship, and lifelong learning. Our dedicated faculty provide an environment where students are known, encouraged, and challenged to do their best.

Science-Based Literacy Instruction

Strong reading skills are the foundation of academic success. Our Kindergarten and 1st Grade teachers are completing training in the Phonics First® method—an Orton-Gillingham-based approach that builds confident, fluent readers through explicit instruction in phonics, spelling, and decoding.

This enhanced literacy program will be fully implemented beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, strengthening early literacy achievement for every young learner.

Resource & Learning Support

Learning support program

We are committed to meeting students where they are and helping them grow. Our Resource Program provides targeted academic support, ensuring students with identified learning needs receive small-group or individualized instruction that reinforces classroom learning and builds confidence.

Working closely with classroom teachers and families, our resource program helps students develop strong study skills, self-advocacy, and a sense of achievement in their learning.

Purposeful Technology Integration

Technology is an undeniable part of everyday life for our students, shaping how they learn, communicate, and solve problems. At St. Pius X Catholic School, we embrace these tools in a balanced and intentional way. We remain grounded in a strong, person-centered academic tradition, while also ensuring our students gain the digital competencies needed for the future.

Through shared classroom iPads , students have opportunities to explore technology as creators and critical thinkers—always guided by purpose, integrity, and curiosity.

Faith at the Heart of Learning

Catholic identity in academics

Every subject is taught through the lens of our Catholic faith, helping students recognize the beauty of truth, goodness, and God’s presence in the world. Regular opportunities for prayer, Mass, and service deepen their understanding and shape daily learning.

In this way, academic excellence and spiritual growth go hand in hand, forming young people who are prepared for high school and for a lifetime of faithful discipleship.
